Training and Lessons

Lillywood Show Stables brings a family friendly environment to the hunter/jumper world. Lillywood offers lessons for all ages and all levels of hunter/jumper riders, from beginners to advanced. All of our trainers are registered through USEF and up to date on their SafeSport Training.

Meet Our Trainers

Main Trainer & Owner of Lillywood

Karen Useman Patton

Our trainer Karen Useman-Patton has over 28 years of experience in the hunter-jumper disciplines. Karen has been competing on the A show circuit since the age of 7. She has shown in everything from the ponies, Jr. Hunters, big Equitation, National Derby’s, and Performance Hunters to the 1.50-meter jumpers with numerous accolades. Karen attended West Coast Jr. Hunter Finals in 2006 finishing top 10 overall. When Karen was a sophomore in high school she was instrumental in bringing IEA to Zone 8 along with two fellow competitors. Karen graduated from Virginia Intermont College with a degree in Equine Studies and a minor in Business. While at Virginia Intermont, Karen received an equine scholarship and competed on their winning IHSA team under the guidance of Eddie Federwisch and Heather Richardson. Karen then went on to be an assistant trainer for a hunter-jumper barn where she was able to coach and show on the USEF Circuit from the baby green hunters to the National derbies. In 2017, Karen started LillyWood Show Stables. Since opening LillyWood she has taken riders from beginner to advanced levels. She has helped her students accomplish multiple CHJA Medal Final wins and placings as well as qualifying and taking her students for Junior Hunter Finals Pony Finals Jumpseat Finals Hamel Finals Maclay Regionals Maclay Finals The National Horse Show Las Vegas National Horse Show

Assistant Trainer

Jessica Lamacraft

Jessica has experience in both the hunter/jumper world and the dressage world. She has shown at the local shows as well as the A shows in Colorado. Jessica has trained and brought up many successful young horses and helped others with their young horses. She has extensive knowledge of flatwork and over-fences. Jessica brings a special aspect to training and is proficient in teaching students the basics of flatwork and jumping.

Assistant Trainer

Rilyn Rivera

Rilyn has been riding horses since she was 4 years old. She has shown in both the local and A shows in Colorado. She has won multiple awards in IEA and has competed at IEA Zone Finals multiple times. Rilyn has received awards for CHJA Year End Awards. She has helped train multiple beginner level riders who have gone to become advanced riders and place high in shows.
